Everybody’s idea of a romantic date is different. But you can’t deny that cuddling up with your significant other next to the campfire, under the starry night sky, and in the tranquil wilderness….is not romantic. I mean, come on! Who wouldn’t want to spend quality time with their significant other in the presence of the magnificent mother nature? As you can tell, I’m a strong advocate for couples camping dates. And the idea of spending time with your significant other without the distraction of technology.
So in this post, I’ve come up with a few couples camping ideas to help you and your S.O. spice up your date life! Enjoy.
Where To Go Camping?
If this is your first ever camping trip with your significant other, make sure to not just head straight towards the woods without doing any research first. I’d highly suggest that you check out the nearest campsite/campground in your area by visiting ReserveAmerica.com
It’ll show you the facilities and amenities available so that you can have an idea of what the camping trip will look like. As well as what additional things you might need to bring.
Also! I just want you to know that, you can always camp in your backyard! As long as you and your significant other make the effort to keep technology away, and truly focus on creating quality time with each other.
How Do You Have A Romantic Camping Trip?
So…What do you do on a camping date? And how do you have a romantic camping trip? Well here are some romantic couples camping activities and ideas that’ll hopefully inspire you.
1. Slow Dance To A Love Song
Slow dance to Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” underneath the moonlight. *Assuming that you both like the song*
Or you know what? Dance to you guys’ favorite song! Or the song played at your wedding night. And it doesn’t matter if you know how to slow dance or not. What matters is that you are both enjoying the presence of each other, and enjoying the moment.
2. Have A Paint And Sip Session
Bring some watercolor paintbrushes, a few pieces of canvas, and a bottle of wine. And whalaa! That’s another romantic camping date idea for ya.
You and your significant other can have a painting competition on who’s the better artist. Or you can create a beautiful artwork together that can later be framed and hung in the house. I’m sure you will be able to create some jaw-dropping abstract art by the time you finish that bottle of wine. Haha!
3. Hit The Hot Springs
Steam up your camping date by taking a late night dip in the hot springs with your significant other!
Before heading to your campground, check online to see whether there’s a hot spring around, or if they provide hot tubs on the campsite.
4. Ask Each Other A List Of Deep Questions
I think the absolute best way to get to know someone is by asking them deep questions that no one usually asks them about.
- If you travel back in time for one day, what year would you go to and why?
- If you could ask me one question, and I had to answer truthfully, what would you ask?
- When were you most open with me during this partnership?
- Which similarity do we both share that you can’t get enough of?
- What do you want to do with me that we have never tried together?
- What has been your hardest thing to cope with in life?

5. Play A Board/Card Game
Card games and board games can make any situation fun. On the plane, on the bus, or waiting in the crazy long line at the DMV.
If you’re a naturally competitive person, card games and board games will probably keep you and your partner entertained for the entire night. Make sure to not get too serious about it though, we don’t want to start a fight here.
6. Make Marshmallow Roast By The Camp Fire
Campfire and marshmallow roast…ahh, this is literally every young teenage girl’s dream. Fire, love, and food. There’s no combination better than that.
7. Write Out A Short Story Of How You Met
Have you and your significant other told each other the story of how you two met? Maybe his or her side of the story is wildly different from yours! During the quality time you’ll be spending on the campground, try to write out the official story of how you met!
It’ll be a fun exercise for you two to relive those first moments of your relationship, and remember how and why you fell in love.
8. Attempt To Do Couples Yoga
Couples yoga is no easy exercise. It requires lots of core strength and balance. But notice how I said “attempt” to do couples yoga. It doesn’t matter if you’re not a pro, it’s the thought and effort that counts, haha!
Make sure to not hurt yourself! Use a yoga mat and maybe place some cushions around you to prevent injuries.
Book A “Glamping” Getaway With Your S.O.
If the weather in your city is too unpredictable to be camping out in the woods in a fragile little tent. Then “glamping” might be safer, and maybe more your cup of tea.
“What the heck is glamping??” I can hear your confusion from miles away.
Definition of Glamping according to Wikipedia:
Glamping is a portmanteau of “glamorous” and “camping” and describes a style of camping with amenities and, in some cases, resort-style services not usually associated with “traditional” camping. Glamping has become particularly popular with 21st-century tourists seeking the luxuries of hotel accommodation alongside “the escapism and adventure recreation of camping”
Where To Book A Glamping Vacation?
I personally just added this incredibly stunning “glamp” site in Quintana Roo to my Mexico travel bucket list. It’s right in the middle of the jungle, away from literally everything. And the most amazing feature of this little cottage is that it’s surrounded by glass doors!
It’s definitely a bit on the pricier side compared to other Airbnb houses in Mexico. But I think the experience will be 100% worth it. I’ll let you guys know when I cross this off my bucket list.
*By the way, if you don’t have an Airbnb account yet. You can receive up to $51 off your first stay using my referral link to sign up!*
